Thermal Transition: Support the move toward reliable, lower-carbon thermal energy systems by improving asset performance, integrating new technologies and developing practical decarbonisation pathways. Projects may include gas-fired generation, energy-from-waste, district heating, fuel switching, hydrogen, carbon capture utilisation and storage, and the repurposing of existing infrastructure. Whichever sector you join, you will work alongside experienced engineers and specialists to provide high-value technical support across the project lifecycle. Your responsibilities may include: Supporting optioneering, feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis to identify practical, sustainable solutions to client challenges Contributing to concept and front-end engineering design, including technical assessments, equipment selection and cost estimates Developing detailed electrical designs, calculations, specifications, drawings and coordinated digital or BIM models Using data, modelling and engineering software to test performance, manage interfaces and support evidence-based decisions Supporting procurement, construction, commissioning and operation to help ensure assets are delivered safely and perform as intended Working with colleagues and stakeholders including utilities, network operators, developers, contractors, manufacturers, investors and regulatory bodies Preparing clear technical reports and presenting findings to project teams and clients Candidate Specification At Mott MacDonald, we’re looking for curious, motivated graduates who want to make a real difference.
